What is Intergroup?
When there are several meetings in an area, they can perform certain functions better together than separately. Intergroups spring from a need to provide services for a number of local meetings and to distribute information about OA to a community. The Intergroup is directly responsible to the groups it serves. Representatives are elected by each meeting to attend and participate in the Intergroup meetings and responsibilities.
Intergroups make up Regions and Regions (eleven in all) make up the World Service Organization (WSO). East Bay Unity Intergroup serves Alameda and Contra Costa counties in California and is part of Region 2, which also serves Hawaii, Mexico and Northern Nevada.
An intergroup does not decide how individual groups conduct their business. Intergroup is concerned with matters affecting other groups or OA as a whole.
